Take Your Skills From Beginner to Expert

Studying the flute is an exciting thing! I strive for personal excellence in my performances, and I expect no less from those I am given the opportunity to teach. I work determinedly to help students grow technically and lyrically and to help them discover their own deep, personal love for music.

In order for any student to thrive in their flute performance, they must have a rudimentary and eventually advanced grasp of the basics, such as posture, breathing, tone, rhythm, dynamics, theory, technique, and performance practice. I start beginner students on rudimentary books, introducing etudes, scales, excerpts, and solos as they progress through their studies. I also introduce various warm-up exercises designed to promote improvement in tone, breathing, dynamics and technique.

I hope that by challenging students to conquer increasingly difficult pieces of music and musical exercises they will find that they have grown to become not just more proficient flautists, but better musicians and human beings.

If you are interested in starting your (or your child’s) musical journey, please contact me to discuss rates and details. Lessons are typically held in my home studio in Seattle, but I will gladly utilize Zoom for anyone outside of the area and/or those who are currently social distancing. Schedule/curriculum are flexible to fit your specific needs. I look forward to meeting you!
